Global Getaways are Back!

If you have a decent stack of Alaska Airlines miles (maybe because of a recent Bilt promotion), you’re in luck. Alaska just released it’s quarterly “Global Getaways” list of deeply discounted award flights with partner airlines, and it is amazing. Behold:

You can fly round-trip to Mexico for as low as 25k miles, Oman and Taiwan for 50k miles, and India for 60k miles. The deals to Athens and Rome for 50-55k miles are less impressive since you can always fly to Europe for $500 and it’s not unusual to find award tickets to Europe for around 50k miles.

But the going rate from San Francisco to Taipei is 75k miles. So 50k is a massive discount. If you had Bilt Silver status and transferred 34k miles during Bilt’s 50% transfer bonus a few weeks ago, that would have been enough to book these (normally $800+ even for basic economy) flights thanks to this promotion.

Two big caveats here: supplies are limited so jump on this early. Also, the booking and travel schedule is a little constrained. You’ll have to book by July 31, 2024 and travel between October 1, 2024 and January 31, 2025, so this might be a bit hard to pull off if you already have holiday plans.

These deals should keep coming every three months, so if this one doesn’t work for you, now’s a good time to mark early November in your calendar and pick up a Bilt or Alaska card to start earning Alaska miles.
