Chase’s IHG Cards Have Another Great Bonus Offer
Tl;dr: IHG’s great cards are even better, through September 27th.
Short but sweet unscheduled post today, because one of my favorite cards just got even better!
The great thing about credit cards is that, at any given time, there’s probably a card or two taking their already-solid welcome bonus to the next level. I just wrote about the incredible current offer on the AA Aviator Red, and now Chase is offering an extra incentive on the IHG Premier, one of the best and most useful travel cards on the market, in my humble opinion.
As usual, you can earn 140,000 IHG points–probably good for 6-10 nights worth of stays–after spending $3,000 in the first three months after opening an account. What’s new is that you can now also get up to $100 back in statement credits for IHG stays booked with your card.
This isn’t necessarily the best offer ever; IHG offered 175,000 points a few months ago, an offer that I think was slightly better. But the statement credit is a very nice cherry on top of the usual 140,000 bonus.
Now your $99 annual fee will net you $100 back towards an IHG stay in the first year, and a free night certificate each year thereafter, making the card essentially free to hold on net (apart from the minimum spend to earn the bonus). For a card that offers great earning on IHG, general travel, and gas station spending, Platinum status at IHG hotels, statement credits for TSA Precheck or Global Entry, and $25 towards a United flight every 6 months, it’s a very worthy long-term addition to any traveler’s wallet, and now might be a great time to pick it up.
P.S., the Premier’s no-annual-fee cousin, the Traveler, comes with low-level IHG elite status and offers 80,000 points plus $50 in statement credits after spending $2,000 in three months.
