Bilt’s August Rent Day is Here

Tl;dr: They can’t all be bangers, but the usual Rent Day benefits are still great.

After last month’s ludicrous Rent Day promotion from Bilt, your favorite card for paying rent has scaled things back a bit for August. While the usual benefits are great as ever, this month’s benefits are a bit… niche.

Virgin Voyages benefits

If you book a Virgin Voyages cruise through Bilt, you’ll get nice perks like a complimentary guest (the big one), a $100 bar tab, premium wi-fi, two specialty coffees per day, priority boarding, and complimentary laundry service.

That’s an impressive suite of benefits, although it wouldn’t remotely move the needle to get me book a cruise, and I doubt it makes cruising with Virgin a significantly better deal than you could get by shopping around.

Blade parties

The second Rent Day opportunity is a special party spanning Blade’s NYC lounges, including a helicopter flight between the two. If you live in NYC and the tickets are still available, $200 or 10k Bilt points isn’t crazy to spend on snacks, drinks, and helicopter ride over Manhattan, though I wouldn’t jump on it.

Double points

As usual, on August 1st Bilt cardholders can earn double points on all purchases other than rent: 6x on dining, 4x on qualifying travel, and 2x on all other non-rent purchases. So make sure you take your Bilt card out when paying for dinner and save those big-ticket purchases for Rent Day.

Rent Free

Sadly, this is the first month without the ability to earn quick, free points with Bilt’s gone-but-not-forgotten trivia game, Points Quest. However,

As always, though, there’s Bilt’s monthly quiz game Rent Free, offering a chance to have your rent paid off for a month, up to $2,500

Other benefits

In addition to the above, Bilt members can book a free SoulCycle ride (availability limited) or take advantage of curated dining experiences.

Conclusion

Although this Rent Day is a bit of a letdown, the double points alone make this a great day, and the underwhelming offerings this month probably mean that something big is in store for future Rent Days.
