Bilt Adds (Another) New Partner
Tl;dr: You can transfer Bilt points to Hilton now… but you shouldn’t
Good news, everyone! Underwhelming news, but good news nonetheless. Bilt points can now be transferred to Hilton’s loyalty program, Hilton Honors.
This is nice for three reasons. First and foremost, Bilt tends to put on big promotions with their partners, so Bilt members might see some nice travel opportunities with Hilton in the future. Second, Bilt gives you 100 points for each loyalty program you link to your Bilt account, so that’s 100 free points in the bag! In a distant, distant third, you could, theoretically, use your Bilt points to transfer to Hilton at a 1:1 ratio.
Please do not do that. If you’re 500 Hilton points away from a redemption it might not be the worst thing in the world, but otherwise it’s like trading $100 for $20… worth of Monopoly money. Bilt points are very valuable, while Hilton points are among the least valuable points you’ll find anywhere.
To illustrate the point, let’s say you had to spend a random weeknight in the Washington, D.C. area. You could transfer 5,000 Bilt points to Hyatt for a $107/night room adjacent to the Metro, or drop 48,000 Bilt points for a single night at a $147/night hotel nowhere near a subway station. You could spend a week exploring DC from a Hyatt for the price of a single night with Hilton. (Or you live it up and transfer 12,000 Bilt points to Hyatt for a night at the $409/night Hyatt Regency.)
In other words, while it’s always better to have more options, this is one you’ll probably never want to take advantage, except for those 100 free Bilt points (2% of the way to a free Hyatt stay! …Or 0.00003% of the way to a cheap 30k-point Hilton stay, if you can find one.).
