Alaska’s Awesome New Global Getaways

Tl;dr: Keep an eye on Alaska for sweet deals to dream destinations

Alaska is a great airline and an even better frequent flyer program, and it just got even better. They recently announced a new program to offer steeply discounted award flights on partner airlines to a select few destinations each quarter. 

Alaska’s roster of partners is pretty impressive, so the potential for amazing itineraries is endless. To get things started, they’ve gone with a beach theme, offering discounted flights to Fiji and Tahiti for 40k miles roundtrip and the Maldives and Bali for 60k roundtrip, among others. In the case of Fiji, that’s nearly half off the usual price on Alaska, and certainly a steal at the price. 

The downside here, such as it is, is that you have a limited time to book (April) and fly (September through October), and flights could sell out, so check your schedule and act quickly. The beach doesn’t do much for me, so I’ll be marking my calendar for the July sale and hoping for a ski theme. If you don’t have any Alaska miles, this is all the more reason to pick up an Alaska card or a Bilt Mastercard, as this new program makes those cards all the more valuable.
